Dear Black Girl (in diaspora), I hope you are doing well as you settle into your new country. I understand it can be a difficult transition, leaving behind family, friends, and the familiar culture of your home.

I ran like my life depended on it. I remember carrying one of the heavy "hand" luggage we had, well I tried carrying it, and I was struggling with it, then my mom offered to help, but you see that agidi of mine (past tense agidi/stubbornness), I said no, whilst trying to run efficiently.

Disobedience has many ways of kicking you in the rib cage, especially those little little "tombolo" ones... like it will just hit you without expectation.
